Kristen Englenz Releases the Multifaceted “ingénue“

Full-length debut moves through the full range of emotions

On her full-length debut, ingénue, Kristen Englenz takes the listener on a journey through the soft-rock country of the lead track, “Got Me With Goodbye,“ to the kudzu-covered Fairport Convention hills of “Georgia Peach,“ while visiting along the way the post-punk environs of “Rebound“ and the sublime land of redemption on The Blind Boys of Alabama infused “Pray for Rain. And there’s plenty of other sightseeing along the way.

Ken Coomer’s production prowess shines throughout; and this, mainly, through having assembled players who possess the ability to create the perfect vessel for Englenz’ songs and voice. Altogether, they allow each track to inhabit its own vibe without losing the album’s cohesive feel.

She’ll host a record release show Saturday night (Feb. 29) at the Bowery Vault with special guests Jon Latham, No. 1 Knife, and Anana Kaye. Doors at 9 p.m. The show is free but space is limited, so come early. 905C Gallatin Pike 2nd Level
