East Nashville’s ambassador to the world Todd Snider is turning 50 in October and in celebration, he’s throwing himself a party at the “Mother Church of Country Music.”
The man himself provided the following “official” announcement:
Todd Snider Announces 50th Birthday Party Show at Ryman Auditorium October 7
Welcome home Nashville's own, born and raised in the 37206. You know him, you love him, he crashed at your place for a while that one time. He built East Nashville with his bare hands and robbed the bell court for no reason at all. Chicks dig him, and he never wears underwear. He married Jason Isbell, and he totally knows John Prine. Todd Snider will be turning 50 years young and celebrating with a performance and party at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on October 7, with special guest Rorey Carroll. He is for sure going to be there, and isn't going to be too fucked-up to play. “I swear to God,” says Todd.
It's been four years since Todd headlined a solo show in Nashville, when he sold out the Ryman in 2012 with the release of Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables. Todd says, “For singers playing the Ryman is almost as impossible as making 50! I've never felt luckier in my life.” Plus, he writes his own concert ads (which nobody does).
Ranked No. 1 songwriter in Nashville by a pole that also told him he was the best person ever, probably, even though he still is humble about it. Todd adds, “So, I mean ... my God ... you should go ... for sure ... really ... seriously.”
Tickets go on sale Friday, June 3, at 10 a.m.
